Greetings & Cheer

This is the nativity scene in our home. Years ago when my oldest (now 15) was 7, she was terribly upset at our lack of a beautiful nativity scene. She and her then 5 year old brother created this scene (until we save money for a "Pretty one" she explained) all by themselves. I cannot think of a better use for Barbie, Ken, Rescue Heros and playskool barn set. It is the most beautiful nativity scene ever (in my mind anyway).
Now at 15 & 12, they both still drag out the scene and set it up. At midnight the golf ball is removed from Mary's belly and baby Jesus is placed in the manger. Gone are the thoughts of purchasing a "Pretty one". It is one of our favorite parts of the Holiday season.

Open Studio Show& Sale

It's that time of year for my annual open studio show.
My fabulous 15 year old daughter & 12 year old guy cleaned the house for me while I was away working this weekend( they totally ROCK!) All I have left to do is rearrange the furniture and set up shop! I love this show. I get to hang out with 9 or so of my most favorite fellow artisans and socialize with friends & customers. Eat, Drink & Be Cheery! It does not get much better. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by.

Skirts anyone?

Working on some appliqued & hand stitched skirts, just need to figure out what my plan is for the hems! I like the raw edge, but feel the need to finish. I'm thinking raw w/ a band of wool of some sort. Rickrack? HMMMMMMMMMM what to do? I'll be back w/finished pics.

Sketchy

So all summer long I have been busy sketching, sewing and producing new work. Here are some bits & pieces. I have a couple of shows in September, then full force in November-December. Check back as I am planning on posting a sketch a day.

Original without color...

Maybe fabric? Or a print?

Summertime Blues

It is the end of August and I must say I am NOT ready for my kids to head back to school. It has been a great, but short summer. Weather has just kicked in and I am not ready for a schedule! Oh well, I guess I still hold onto that childish dream of endless summer.

The shed that Ted built from the wood we milled from out property...so cute, er I mean rugged!

fried pickles...who knew?

I could not identify, buy I like.

Broken thumb, only to be followed by a broken nose. Maybe I am glad summer is coming to an end!

The bird that sat in the nest of eggs, that I never saw hatch, but Ted saw all the little chickadees romping early one morning and then gone!

The boys enjoying the Windjammer parade.

A phone pole that has seen many, many band posters, my 12 year old had never seen such stapled beauty.

Rocks that T-Moe collected for me. Heart them!

The wood I split & the kids stacked, and stacked & stacked!

Our Favorite wee visitor, Sweet Sofia.

Barters Island in the summertime

There is nothing as good as hanging out at the cottage on Barter's Island with good friends & family. I had the pleasure of hanging with the girls this weekend. Some of us have known each other since grammar school. Such a nice way to spend a lovely weekend. Hiking, sunning, eating, drinking and talking til the wee hours. LOVE you girlies!

Free because it's fun!

Hello! Because I am feeling exceptionally full of sunshine after a weekend full of sunshine, I thought I'd give away some free downloadable calling cards. Calling cards you ask? just a quick & fun way to give your personal info out. Instead of scrounging for paper to write your name & number on, just print these little cuties on Avery 8371 or8376 business card stock, add your info to the back and away you go. These are great for Mom's when trying to connect with other mothers for play dates, or for all you single ladies, hand this out instead of the old cocktail napkin or business card!
